Ideal printer in my dream…

I always feel, printers are nothing but the hard copy generator of our thoughts, dreams, desires, commitment, agreements, etc. These days, they have larger role in every place and phase of life. Now printers are available in many version with lot of features. Latest HP printer works as some mobile set. It doesn’t require connection with computer to make it work. Now printers started thinking, delivering, listening independently by taking printing orders from everywhere.

Light helps to lighten another lamp…similarly, a thought can definitely triggers another thought. After seeing the latest HP printer, I have started dreaming about what are all the functions printer  can support in future…They are endless but I would like to list out with few illustrations…

  • Printer will have set of defined formats/patterns of letter, resumes, etc. Just by supplying the content, it should have an intelligence to print what we want by receiving instructions.
  • We can dictate notes or content to a printer through phone or in person. It will store that into its internal memory in text format(Nothing but steno job). Later we can tell what to print by giving oral instructions.  If we tell it as official letter with further instructions, official letter should print out…if we ask the printer to mail that to so and so, it should do it…if we ask printer just to save it as a draft, it should do that also.
  • Printer should have the capability of considering voice command. If it has voice recognition capacity, it is good enough for an authorization to decide the privileges. So it can decides the different level of access across users
  • Printer should have the capacity to select a background themes, images from its memory, style, pattern etc to the content we print to make the users job easy.
  • Printer should be intelligent enough to provide different level of authorization through voice or direct commands while searching, accessing, processing, retrieving the data. It is good if it has internal search mechanism just like desktop search or folder structure or something else.
  • How good it will be if printer prints the data not only on paper but on any other storage devices like DVD, CD etc? Of course, paper is also open storage device. If we have this feature, we can print movie on DVD, resume on paper, pictures or CD… desires unlimited 🙂
  • I will connect external storage device to a printer and will navigate through all the content using printer screen. Storage device has images, resumes, books, movies etc. If I have the options to preview, edit, save before taking the print without using computer, life will be so easy. I can order to print books, movies, pictures, resumes in different format on different devices with my own style.
  • If I have options to decide/schedule when, what, how, where to print in printers network(across world through internet connection), I can avoid other devices such as fax, computer, steno etc. It works like this. I can order my printer through phone to send the bid for particular contract with so and so details on xyz date and time.
Dreams are unlimited…while writing this, thoughts are flooding out…but will stop this list now. 🙂 I am not greedy or crazy to expect everything in single device. But hopes are not bad right?

Printers are magical devices…it brings the uniformity to the society. Because of printers, knowledge is sharable across people and reachable to any common man. Printers have taken major role in documenting the history. Printers are like mirrors…they just give what you feed.

Huh! let me have some real sleep now…as usual, your comments are welcome 🙂

Universal communication translator in mobile

The whole world segregated based on languages, cultures, lifestyles etc. I always wonder how beautiful life would be if we had a universal language which would reach everyone, irrespective of language & other differences etc.Well, I know, it is an dream  that is just imaginary, to achieve since have our own constraints. Nevertheless, I’d not stop thinking about making our lives easy by bringing all types of people together through communication with absolutely no barriers.

Now that we are in the era of smart phones, I feel nothing is impossible. We can achieve all kinds of communication which reaches every individual irrespective of their language. When two individuals speak over the phone using a common language, then it is easily understandable.  But if they speak in two different languages, then is this communication easy to understand? What is the  probability of a communication between a person  hard of hearing and an illiterate? Many such questions…but, if we don’t solve the problem of a lay man,  then of what use  is this technology …??

How I wish my Smart Phone had a ” Communication / Language Translator ” as a unique feature .Just by telling the title, it doesn’t make you understand the wish I had.

Just imagine, I have a phone which does the below mentioned things.
– The voice converter feature which converts voice into text and text into voice
– Language translator which converts language A to language B
– An algorithm which reduces the possible latency for above process.

Wow! If I have all the above features, life will be more exciting. No need to bother about different language across regions. Let me help you understand better through the following illustrations :

Scenario one:

Vinay speaks only English and Daya speaks only Spanish but still they have to communicate through phone. In current conditions, it is impossible. But the feature which I have in mind solves this problem easily through below steps.
– Vinay conversation will get converted into English text using Voice converter feature.
– This English text will translated into Spanish text through Language translator
– Now Spanish text will be converted into Spanish conversation with the help of Voice converter
– Daya can hear the Vinay’s English conversation in Spanish
– When Daya speaks Spanish, Vinay can listen it as English
If we are able to avoid the latency, this will  work out to be a wonderful feature.

Scenario Two:

Ramesh is deaf and Suresh is illiterate. Both  these persons want communicate with each other  through the phone since they reside  in different regions. Again, it is complex scenario to make a possible communication. But I don’t find any reasons why they miss the luxuries which any other person enjoys. We can solve this problem through few easy steps.
– Ramesh types a text message in his mobile and sends to Suresh
– Suresh’s  phone converts the text message into voice (if required, language change too) and Suresh can easily understand.
– Suresh speaks over the phone and sends voice message to Ramesh
– Ramesh phone converts the message into text   (If required, language change too) and Ramesh can understand easily.

It seems like a very crazy idea. But I always wished  for this feature  each time i feel the difficulty to speak  & understand other languages and while seeing the problems of  faced by challenged people.

I  eagerly await to hear your thoughts / opinions with respect to my idea.
